By now you’ve all seen this advertisement of people happily whacking away at a giant piñata as an advertisement for Carnival Cruise Lines.

A cursory search of Youtube, however, will get you to video of how the actual event was broken up by the police before the piñata could be smashed open by a crowd of people.

Apparently the brilliant people who organized this event never calculated the legal implications of taking a wrecking ball to a giant piñata and having it dump 800 pounds of candy onto random people off the street.

It appears the entire event needed to be staged for the commercial using paid actors pretending to have fun so that they could make sure that people would stay away from areas of imminent harm during the breaking of the piñata.
